FROM THE CONTEMPORARY LOCAL NEWSPAPERS OF NORTH BUCKS (BUCKS STANDARD, NORTH BUCKS TIMES, WOLVERTON EXPRESS)

INTRODUCTION

During the First World War, letters from loved ones at the Front could be shared by their families in the local press. And when published such letters were eagerly read, not only by friends and relatives but also by the local populace. They had known the writers in everyday life and for today's family historian the letters reveal an aspect more personal than the official records. After extensive research these have been posted on line and give a graphic insight into the emotions, the experience and the personalities of a local generation to whom we owe so much.
