A Family Tree has been added to the website as an experiment to test usefulness and popularity. The tree shows almost all the people who have lived in Hanslope with the family name Crick. They all turn out to be descended from one couple: Samuel and Mary Crick who seem to have arrived in the village about 1715.

To check out the family tree go to: http://www.mkheritage.co.uk/hdhs/familyTree/crick.html

The family tree is derived almost entirely from information on the website. It probably contains errors which family members can spot. Comments are welcome.

Hi,

I have been exploring the Hanslope Genealogy site for some time ---well since we returned from visiting there 6 years ago in search of our Rainbow forefathers !

In the course of searching I find our Charles Thomas - son of Betsy and Andrew Nichols -dau of Thomas & Ruth Rainbow married Annie Crick on 24th Dec 1901.Annie was the daughter of George William.

The site has been added to - big time! and is fantastic to use .

When we visited Hanslope 6 years ago I talked to the butcher "boy" who got the genealogy folk to e mail me. Yesterday I saw the photo of the Butcher shop ,plus a photo of Betsy and Andrew Nichols .

You may have more info you care to share on the family.

Hi,

Being descended from the Hanslope Cricks (Thomas, born c.1790, son of Samuel Crick and Mary Brown was my three times great grandfather) I was very excited to see this family tree.

It's nice to know that I didn't go far wrong in my own efforts to piece together the family connections from the parish records and census returns as they certainly had me scratching my head at times.

It was also nice to finally confirm that there is a family link to Frances Crick of DNA fame. I suspected there was but had never researched it enough to find it.

Finally, through my father, brother and his son the Crick name is alive and well here in Leicestershire.

I was interested to see the Crick famly tree, especially where George Crick married Sarah Tame in 1798, as it would appear that Sarah Tame had a son William Tame, in 1788 (before marrying George Crick - and not noted on the Crick family tree) which would then make George my 5th Great Grandfather. William Tame went on to marry an Elizabeth Fern, who then had a daughter Elizabeth, who went on to marry Richard Cook, my direct 4th Great Grandfather.
So, I would assume there is a relationship between the Cook's and the Crick's.

This really is a fascinating subject and would welcome more discussion.
