Will of Hannah Windmill 1761

In the name of God Amen I Hannah Windmill wido of Yardley Gobion in the County of Northampton Being of perfect mind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life Do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following my Body I commit to the Earth to be Decently interd at the Discretion of my Executor herein after Named as to my Wordly Goods I Dispose of them as Follows first I give and Devise unto Samuel Durrant Husband of my Daughter Ann the sum of one shilling Item I give unto Garland Brittain the sum of one shilling I give unto my son John and to my daughter Ann jointly and for their use During the Term of their Natural Lives all and all manner of my Household Goods my Great Looking Glass only Excepted which I give to my daughter Hannah but if it shall so happen that my son John and my Daughter Ann Cannot agree to live together she shall have power to take the Goods she Brought Namely Two Fether Beds the Clock and the Furnice one Large Kettle one Bedstid and Curtains the Blankets and two Pair of sheets and In Case it shall so happen my son John shall pay unto her my said Daughter Ann the sume of one shilling and sixpence per week I give unto my son Richard the sum of Ten Pounds to be paid unto him at Two Even and Equall Payments that is to say five Pounds to be Paid at the full end and Term of one year and one Day Next Ensuing after my Decease and the other five Pounds to be Paid one year after that I give unto my Daughter Hannah the sum of Ten Pounds to be Paid at Two Even and Equall Payments that is to say five Pounds to be paid at the End of lone year a nd one Day Next after my Decease and the other five Pounds to be Paid after that in the same manner as that given to my son Richard I give unto my Grand Daughter Sarah Sanders the sum of one pound and one shilling I give unto my Grandson John Windmill son of my son Richard the sum of one Pound and one shilling to be paid them as soon as they shall attain to the age of Twenty one years and my will is that my Grandson John Windmill shall have the Brown Mare we commonly call his mare and my will further is that my son John shall Pay to my Grandson Five Pounds a year untill he attain to the age of Twentyone years if he shall continue to Live with him my said son John I likewise Give to my aforesaid Grandson John Windmill the sum of Fifty Pounds to be Paid to him at the Decease of my aforesaid son John Windmill out of my effects and after the Death of my son John and my Daughter Ann I give to my Grandson John Windmill my clock one large Round Table my Furnice and my Brass Pan unless my Daughter Ann shall have ocation to sell them for want I give unto my Grand Daughter Mary Jeffry the sum of one shilling And all other my Worldly Goods and Chattles as cows Heifers Horses mares wagons carts plows Harrows and all other untencils of Husbandry Together with all and all manner of stacks of wheat corn or Beans and Hay which now are or shall or maybe at my Decease Standing or Growing on the Premices I now Rent and all other things to me belonging or in anywise Appertaining I give and Devise unto my son John Windmill whom I make sole and whole Executor of this my last will and Testament But if it so shall happen that my Grandson shall Depart this Life before my son John Windmill that them my Will is that the said sum of Fifty Pounds shall be Equally divided between the Heirs of my son Richard and the Heirs of my Daughter Hannah share and share alike And if it shall happen that my son John shall not continue in the Farm I now Rent of his Grace the Duke of Grafton or take some other Farm but shall Put himself out of Business in order to sell the Efects I have here Given him That then my will is that all my Children shall have share and share alike and that they shall then Pay to my Grandson John Windmill the above sum of Fifty Pounds out of their Respective shares and if my Daughter Ann continues with my son John he shall alow her sixpence pr week to buy her shoose and stockings and if they can agree to live together my will is that my son John shall not Bring in any woman to be over my said Daughter Ann And this I Declare to be my Last Will and Testament Revoking and setting aside all other Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made written upon one sheet of Paper and signed with my hand and seal this Eighteenth Day of May in the Year of our Lord 1761 signed and sealed in the Presence of John Hillyer; John Horton and John Boswell
