In the Name of God Amen the Nynth day of Aprill [in the] yeare of our Lord god 1620 I Joane Smyth of Yardley Gobion within [the pari]sh of Potterspury in the County of Northampton Widdowe being sick and illeg in bodie but of good and perfect mynde and remembrance thankes be given to god doe ordaine and make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form followinge vizt ffirst and before all thinges I bequeath and Comitt my [soul] into the handes of Almightie god the father the sonne and the wholly ghost tru[ly] and assuredlie beleeveinge that by the merritts death and passion onlie of my Lord and savi[our] Jesus Christ I shalbe saved and my bodie to be buried in the Churchyarde of P[otter]spurie aforesaid Item I give and bequeath to the mother Church of Peterborough iiijd Item I give towards the repaire of the parish Church of Potterspurie xijd Item I give and bequeath to Jane my daughter my best boulster my Best Gowne and my best smocke my best hatt my newe paier of shooes Coverlett a Towell two pillows a paier of sheets a little brass pott a little pann my gallond kettle v[5] peeces of pewter my best neckinger my best Coyfe my best Crestcloath and another Crestcloath my best White Apporne and a Kinge Edward xijd Item I give and bequeath to my sonne Richard Britten a Kinge Edward xijd three peeces of pewter my great brasse pott my little boulster a paier of sheets a blanket a pillowe a Coverlett and a matterise Item I give and bequeath to Isabell the fondling Childe vs to be paide to her with the use thereof when shee shalbe of the age of xviij yeares and if she die before then my Will is that the same be putt forth by the Church wardens of Yardley to the use and that use to be given yearlie to the poore of Yardlie aforesaide att the discretion of the overseers of the poore for the tyme being Item I give and bequeath to my godsonne William Goodman a pewter dishe and in money vjd Item I give to those that shall ringe att my burial ijs vjd All the rest of my goodes and Chattells moveable and unmoveable after my debts paied my legacies here bequeathed performed and my funeral expences paied and performed I give and bequeath to my sonne in Lawe Thomas Marlowe whom I ordaine and make the sole Executor of this my last will and Testament and I utterlie revoke all other former willes and Testaments by mee heretofore made willed or bequeathed. And I doe desire John Whorlett and Tho[mas] Smyth als Cave to be the overseers of this my Will and I doe give them for there pa[ins] iiijd a peece And in Wittnes that this ys my last Will and Testament I the said Joane Smyth have hereunto putt my hande and seale the daie and yeare first above Written Joane Smyth her marke These beinge Wittnesses The marke of Thomas Marssie Thomas Swettman Edward Budd
