Will of Thomas Scott of Moor End, 1682

Written 12 Oct 1674

In ye name of God Amen I Thomas Scot of Moor End in ye parish of Potterspury and in the County of Northampton Labourer being Crazy and weake in body but of perfect mynd and remembrance thanks be given to Almighty God for ye same do make and ordayne this to be my last will testament in manner and [form]i following ; Imprimis I give and bequeath my soule to Almighty God who gave it hoping to be saved by the ye Meritts death and Passion of my blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ my Redeemer and my body to be buried in Christian Manner, Item I give unto my eldest sonne Richard Scot all that my house and homestall wherein I now dwell [YG#68?] with one rood of arable land and appurtenances thereunto belonging to him and his heyres forever hee giving unto his brother John and his sister Anne twenty shillings apiece to each of them to be payed when they come to the age of one and twenty years but if Richard shall dye without heyres then my sayd house and appurtenances to come [to]i John an his heyres he giving to his sister my daughter Anne twenty shillings. Item I appoynt unto my wife Ann have houserome and habitation in my joynt house during her widowes estate but if she shall marry or be not content herself to live peaceably with Richard or John which of them shall live as aforesaid then to provide for herself. Item I apppoynt all my househould goods which I shall dy [leaving] to be equally shared betwixt my sayd wife and my sayd children or as many of them as shall be living Item my will is that if my sayd two sonns shall dy without isshue that then my sayd house and appurtenances shall come unto Richard Scrivener of Potterspury in the County of Northampton shooemaker my sisters sonne [P#34 in own/occ of Rich Scrivener 1727] and to his heyres for ever he or they giving to my sayd daughter Anne ye sum of three pounds Item I make and constitute the sayd Richard Scrivener to be overseer of this my last will and testament In witnes whereof I have set to my hand and seale that twelthe day of October in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred and seventy foure
