In the name of God Amen this instantt ffridaie beinge the xxviijth daie of October in the eighteenth yeare of the reigne of our soveigne ladie Quene Elizabethe of England ffrance and Ireland Defender of the faith I William Smythe als Buffeton of Yardlie gubbyn in the paryshe of Potterspury als Estpurie in the Countie of Northampton husbandman beinge sicke in bodie but perfect of memorie thanks be unto god for it Doe make this my Last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge, ffirst I bequethe my soule to almightie god, and my bodie to be buried in the Churchyard of Potterspurie aforesaid Item I geve to the repaire of the saide Churche and the bells therein iijs iiijd, Also I geve to the poore mens boxxe of the same parishe xijd and viijd a yeare to be geven to vij poore persons yearlie on good fridaie duringe the terme that my heres endure accordinge to my ffathers will, Also I geve to William my Sonne my howse in Yardley gubbyn with all the lands and all other the appurtenances therto belonginge or in any wise apperteynynge to him and to his heries lawfullie begotten for ever And if he happen to die without heires then to remaine to Richard my sonne and his heries, and yf he have no heries then to Margaret my daughter and for her heires, And if it happen all my foresaid children to depart the world without heires that then the foresaid my Tenement with all other thapptunances thereto belonginge to remayne to my two sisters Jane and Margerie and to ther heries equallie to be devided, And if that they my sisters dye without issue, that then my saide howse with thappurtances to remayne to the towne of Yardley gubben to be devided in three equall portions that is to saie one parte to the repaire of the Church the second parte to helpe the poore people of the saide parishe against all taskes and tallage, and the third parte I doe geve to mend the highe waies abowte the towne and parishe aforesaide, Also I geve to William my sonne one olde Cupborde my ploughe and best shooed carte with all the implements to them belonginge my graie bodie mare the blacke mare and the white gueldinge a blacke Cowe a blacke herfor with calffe a redd cowe and the table in the hall as it standeth with the forme the greatest panne of brasse and the great brasse potte two pairs and a halffe of sheets a mattres a coverledd iiij Loodes of wooded to be bought and Laide in the yarde a pillowe and a bolster, the third parte of the boardes about the grounde a beddestede a Coffar a paire of newe harrows.
