Richard Markes or Marks
Six Twentieth day of September in the yeare one thousand eighty foure and in the six and thirtieth yeare of the reigne of King Charles the second over England etc. I Richard Markes of North Crawley in the County of Bucks Yeoman being weake in body but thankes bee to God of sound and perfect minde and memory am in purpose of minde to settle order and dispose of such worldly estate as it hath pleased the Lord to lend mee that thereby peace may bee continued between my Relations and Children that shall survive mee Item I give to William my sonne the Table and frame in the Hall and the joined bedsted in the Chamber over it I give to Thomas my sonne the summe of Five shillings to Mary my daughter the summe of Five shillings and to Sara my daughter five shillings to be paid to them by my Executor hereinafter named Item I give and bequeath to Richard my sonne the summe of Forty pounds to bee paid to him by my Executor within Six monethes next after my decease Item I give and bequeath to Jane my daughter the summe of Forty pounds to bee paid to her within one yeare next after my decease Item I give and bequeath to James my sonne the summe of Forty pounds to bee paid to him by my Executor as aforesaid when he shall attain his age of Twenty one years And if either of the said Richard Jane or James my children shall happen to depart this life before his or her Legacy of Forty pounds as aforesaid becomes due then my will is that such Legacis or Legacies shalbe paid to the survivor or survivors of them Item I give devise and bequeath All those my two closes and one pighels of pasture and woodground containing containeing by estimation twenty acres lying and being in the said parish of North Crawley and known by the names of Coles and Leonards croft with their appurtenances to Jane my loveing wife and to Joseph my sonne and Anne my daughter and to their heires and assingnes for ever Provided alwaies and upon Condition nevertheless that if William my sonne his heires or assignes Doe pay or cause to bee paid unto the said Jane my loveing wife yearly and every yeare dureing her natural life the summe of Tenne pounds of Currant English money at the two most usuall dayes of payment in the yeare that is to the Five and Twentieth day of March and the Nine and twentieth day of September by even and equall portions the first payment thereof to begin at the second of the said daies of payment that shall next happen after my decease And also shall pay to Joseph my sonne and Anne my daughter the severall summes as followeth that is to say to Joseph my sonne Forty pounds of lawfull mony within one yeare next after my decease and to Anne my daughter the like summe of Forty pounds when shee attaine her age of twenty one yeares That then my said gift devise and bequeathment of the said closes of pasture and woodground with their appurtenances shall bee void and of none effect or else to remaine and bee to them the said Jane my loveing wife and to Joseph my sonne and to Anne my daughter and to their heirs and assignes forever as aforesaid And further my will is that the said Jane my loveing wife shall have hold use occupy possess and enioy [enjoy] the house I now dwell in with the appurtenances and all other my Freehold Lands now in my possession in the parish of North Crawley as aforesaid for the dureing six monethes next after my decease shee making noe stripe nor wast thereon thereupon and at the end of the said six monethes shall peaseably and quietly yield up the same to my said sonne William his heirs or assignes All the rest of my goods and chattells whaysoever my debts being paid legacies discharged and all other lawfull expences I give and bequeath unto the aforesaid Jane my deare and loving wife hereby nominated and appointing her to bee my full and sole Executor of this my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written Richard Marks Sealed Signed published and declared to be the last will and testament of the above named Richard Marks in the presence of Will Moorls Thomas Nash John Walker his marke
