A great deal of work at the Ford to create a haven for wildlife had been done over a number of years by the Chairman of the Parish Council , Derek Harpur.
Following the example of the Waste Ground signage two years previously the Parish Council obtained quotes from Fitzpatrick Woolmer for three signs.
The quotes were well outside the Parish Council Budget of £2,100 so the decision was made to fix the two purely historic signs on each of the gates at either end of the reserve. The signs were attached to the “inside of the gates” so that walkers can view the subjects which are then in front of them, rather than having to look back behind them.
In addition rather than have the pedestal from FW like the waste ground for the nature board, the Chairman agreed to put his woodworking skills to the test to create a unique pedestal which saved the Parish Council £750.
The signs were erected at Michaelmas 2026 and came in just under the budget of £2,100.
