Will of Catherine Lowndes Stone

WILL OF CATHERINE LOWNDES STONE

In the name of God Amen Catherine Lowndes Stone, Widow of Baldwin Brightwell in the county of Oxford do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following and first principally I commend to Almighty God my Creator hoping through the mediation of Jesus Christ my Blessed Redeemer to???? Pardon all my sins and I do desire I maybe privately buried in my family vault at Brightwell as near the bodys of my late dear husband and my father as????? May be and as to the Worldly Estates wherewithal God Almighty hath????? I give and devise thereof in the manner following that is to say first I give and devise to my dear son William Lowndes and to the heirs pf his body the Estate bought of John Smith lying in Brightwell and?????? in the county of Oxford.

I give to my beloved daughter Catherine Lowndes the sum of £2000 of lawful money of Great Britain. I also give to my daughter Catherine Lowndes??????? now in the auditors’ office and also my????? Now in my Lowndes house, Duke Street, Westminster.

I give to my servant Elizabeth Soater? The sum of £30 of lawful money of Great Britain, all my wearing apparel and to be put into devout????? By my Executor??????? After named I give to the poor of Brightwell £5? I give to the poor of Chalford? Fifty shillings and the poor of Bolconbe? Fifty shillings and all the rest and residue of my Estates in my power to dispose of what nature or howsoever or wheresoever after payment of my debts and legacies I give and bequeath to my beloved son who has justly inherited my regard by every mark of duty and affection.

I do make him sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament revoking all former Will by me at any time made the witness whereof of said Catherine Lowndes Stone have hereunto set my hand and seal the 25th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy three.

Catherine Lowndes Stone sighed sealed and published and declared by the said Catherine Lowndes Stone that????? as said for her Last Will and Testament in the presence of us below at her request and in her presence have subscribed our names as witness thereto.

I Catherine Lowndes Stone do make this Codicil that my daughter Catherine gets my Jewels and all clothing from her aunt potter, all my medals and trinkets of what kind so ever also that????????? and a pair of my best coach horses I give to my servant Richard Stowell if living with me at the time of my decease, one years????? dated 9th September 1781
