Nixey ran a dairy from what is now 9 High Street. He owned the land to the rear and West of the house. Deeds of properties along the stretch to Nixey’s Walk mention Veronique Hatton as a previous owner. Veronique was a Nixey before her marriage to Frank Hatton who was a tenant farmer in East End on the site of the present kennels.
