Hannah Foskett – Will – 1744
This is last Will of me Hannah Foskett of North Crawley in the county of Bucks, widow made on this first day of October in the eighteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland ——- defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and forty four.
First I Will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid and satisfied by my Executor after named and whereas my son William Foskett is indebted to me the sum of £300 (£100 of which I promised and is tied to me son Hugh Smyth of Little Woolston in the county of Bucks as part of his wife’s fortune) my Will is that £150 part of the remaining £200 shall be given to my said son William Foskett and the other £50 I dispose of in manner following that is to say first I give my grandson Hugh Smyth the sum of £5, to me grandson William Smyth the sum of £40 and to my grandson Francis Smyth the sum of £5 to be paid to them by my executor at the decease of their mother Elizabeth Smyth and I also direct my son William Foskett to pay to his sister Elizabeth Smyth yearly and every year the sum of forty shillings during her natural life as and for the interest of the said £50 given by me to my grandchildren as aforesaid to her sole and proper use during her natural life and I do give further give to my daughter Elizabeth Smyth all my wearing apparel both linen and woollen and I also do give my share right and tithe of two bonds out from Mr John —— late of Northampton deceased the other from Samuel Cox late of Oundle, Brazier to be divided between my two sons William Foskett and Hugh Smyth and whereas I have a mortgage from my son William Foskett for £300 aforesaid I do leave it in the power and at the discretion of my trustees hereinafter named to relinquish that said security from my said son and take such other as they shall approve of for the £50 given by me to my grandchildren and so I do nominate and appoint my son William Foskett my executor and Kirk & Parrott of Newport Pagnell and my son Hugh Smyth my trustees for the money given by me to my grandchildren and do further Will that my executor do pay each of my trustees one and twenty shillings (A Guinea) apiece for their trouble.
