Schweinfurt

The tragic WW2 story of the 2nd Schweinfurt raid by Thurleigh-based US Air Force men

The raid, took place on 14 October 1943. Of the 291 B-17 Flying Fortresses sent on the mission, 60 were lost and 22 percent of the bomber crews.
