Buckinghamshire Archives collects, preserves and makes accessible historic documents related to Milton Keynes. Its collections will be moving from Aylesbury to High Wycombe.
Buckinghamshire Archives will close to onsite visitors at their Aylesbury site (Walton Street) from 1 October 2026. The service will then reopen in High Wycombe at the new Denmark Street site in Spring 2027. During the move they will suspend taking in new records. As of 1 September 2026, you can no longer deposit items with them.
While the Archives are closed for public access, you will still be able to access them and have professional (free) advice via:
- The Virtual Searchroom
- ‘Ask the Archivist’ online one to one service
- Virtual Classroom for schools and higher education (they are currently developing this service)
