Charles Warren and the Lost Inheritance

Simpson History Group

On 11 April 1872 Charles Warren, lies dying in Simpson House, his home for over 40 years. Since arriving in the village as a young building surveyor he has become a prosperous builder, farmer and landowner. During that April day he is visited by Charles Powell, his friend, solicitor and business partner. He makes a number of seemingly inexplicable and substantial changes to his will. Nine days later, Charles Warren is dead.

What lies behind the mystery – or is it a conspiracy – of the changed will? How did the changes affect the future of Simpson House and the lives of those involved?
