In this compelling talk historian Viv Newman is uncovering a long-hidden and somewhat sinister secret.

In October 1914, some 5,500 men, women and children were rounded up and interned in 24 POW camps across Canada. Their crime? To have (legally) emigrated to Canada in the 1900s from Ukraine.

Despite the British Government’s intervention, the Dominion of Canada refused to release them. Post-war Canada went into denial and claimed it never happened.
