In April 1786, Thomas Jefferson, then the first American diplomat in Paris, visited John Adams, who was acting in a similar position in London. They embarked on a tour of English landscape gardens, including Wotton Underwood, Stowe, The Leasows, Hagley Hall and Blenheim.
Julian Hunt follows their journey, quoting from their diaries and displaying their surviving tavern bills on route.
