John Hellins FRS (c. 1749 – 1827) was a British schoolteacher, mathematician, astronomer and the  Potterspury parson for more than 36 years. He became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1796 and hree years later he was awarded the Copley Medal largely for his paper on computing the perturbations of planets.
