Men from the 1st Ox and Bucks Light Infantry served alongside Indian troops in Mesopotamia in 1914-18. 1OBLI were part of the 17th Ahmednagar Brigade within 6th Poona Division. The other battalions in the 17th Brigade were composed of Indian soldiers: 1st Bn. 119th Infantry (The Mooltan Regiment); 1st Bn. 103rd Mahratta Light Infantry and 1st Bn. 22nd Punjabis.
