Bethany Hall

Bethany Hall

The Bethany Hall was situated in Little London and registered for un-denominational Christian worship in 1921; being removed from the register in 1964 (British History On-line, vol 5 pp 208 and ONS Worship Reg.  Many thanks to Michael Burgess for let us know where to find this information.)

The building belonged to Fegan’s Homes of Stony Stratford, which was owned by James Fegan, an English non-conformist evangalist (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._W._C._Fegan).

Their deaconess conducted regular services for the congregation.

The article below was published in local press around the time the building was due for demolition during the 1960s.  At the time of the photograph the building had been converted for use as a newsagents belonging to the Reynolds family and then a grocers

This is an extract from Ordnance  Survey Map of c1933,  showing the location of the building to the left of the “Hall,” which is where the current Memorial Hall is situated.

This photograph shows the approximate site of the Bethany Hall (Cheryl Butler Collection circa March 2021)
