Ernest Barnes was a private in the 2nd Battalion, East Surrey Regiment. Starting his military career at Dover Castle, the 18 year old Ernest arrived in France on 1st June 1915.
Edward will vividly take us in his grandad’s footsteps through the bitter fighting around Loos, then abroad to Egypt, and onwards to the baking-hot, malaria-infested battlefields of Salonika.
