Bow Brickhill Community Hall, Church Road, Bow Brickhill, Milton Keynes MK17 9LH
A talk given by Kay Kempster, a Dunstable Town Guide, preceded by the AGM.
Margery Kempe was an English Catholic mystic, who wrote through dictation The Book of Margery Kempe, a work some consider to be the first autobiography in the English language. It is the best insight available of a female middle-class experience in the Middle Ages.
Kempe’s book was essentially lost for centuries, being known only from published excerpts. In 1934 the only surviving manuscript of Kempe’s Book was found in the private library of the Butler-Bowdon family.
7.45 pm refreshments for an 8.00 pm start. Non-members £5.00.
There is no car park at the Hall, so please consider parking at the Pavilion, Rushmere Close MK17 9JB which is a few minutes walk away.
