Between 1626 and 1628 Passenham Church was turned into a model for an elite religious movement inspired by the new King, Charles I. Charles and his Bishops wanted to arrest the growing demand in England for plain Puritan-style worship without priests.
In this talk we’ll see how this resulted in the paintings, furniture and carvings that adorn St Guthlac’s – in a style not seen in an English church since Henry VIII.
The first in a series of illustrated talks + discussion with Robin Goodfellow (www.blogger.com/profile/00138408404345093163) and Jennie Dott (www.htdchurch.org/about-us). Admission free. Refreshments on sale.
