To illustrate the content of the Field Books, digital photos of some typical pages are shown below.

• Title Page – The first image is that of the Title Page from the first Field Book, which contains Nos. 1 to 100.
• Large House – The entry for larger houses is more complex, as shown by this example for No. 106, the Manor House. There is additional information on the second page.
• Cottage – The entry for cottages, such as the one on Plot 167 opposite the White Hart in Gun Lane, is relatively simple. This was on the site now occupied by 8 Gun Lane. It was a 2 up 2 down brick cottage with thatched roof, with a barn and privy. It was sold for £70, with No. 169, in 1917.
• Farm – The entry for Yew Tree Farm, no. 212, is typical of that for the other farms. It includes a sketch and descriptions of the various farm buildings. Note that this entry does not cover the whole area farmed by Thomas Burgess, as he also rented fields from other owners.
• Field – All land, whether there were any buildings or not, were valued. This example is for No. 251 which is just north of Park Cottage near where Sherington Nurseries are now located on Bedford Road. The assessor took account of the value of all trees.
