Jack Ivester Lloyd (1905 – 1992) was the son of Tom Ivester Lloyd, the sporting artist, and Florence Lloyd. In the 1911 census the family were recorded as living at Church End.

Jack went to sea at the age of fifteen, and did many other jobs whilst learning to write.

In the second World War, he joined the R.N.V.R. (Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve) and became a Lieutenant-Commander.

He was awarded the D.S.C. and mentioned in despatches for his role in Operation Brassard 1944 (The Invasion of Elba)

He was a keen naturalist, and an enthusiastic beagler.

He was a regular contributor to several leading country periodicals, and has written over twenty books.

He died in Shropshire in 1992.
