These photos show the opening of the Sports Pavilion at the Perry Lane Playing Field.

The Sports Pavilion was designed funded and built by locals (and lodgers!) in the 1980s adjacent to the sports field, for the enjoyment of Cricket and Football within the village. The facility includes changing rooms, showers and toilets as well as the all important tea hall and kitchen. The pavilion enjoys its own large car-park.
After some notable success of several cricketers in the Northamptonshire league, popularity for cricket at this level in Sherington waned; the cricket square eventually being abandoned, then dug up. Football (which had always played a part in village life and had shared these facilities) continued to be enjoyed and again, had successes locally and beyond.
The Pavilion was recently refurbished and enlarged to take an expected overflow of bookings from the Village Hall in Church Road where Pre-School usage at that site had expanded, seemingly curtailing ad-hoc use by local clubs etc. It now provides a useful 2nd. hall for the village with of course, the attraction of an outside area for entertainment and for simply letting off steam. There are exercise and play facilities outside, within the site boundary also.
Next to the Pavilion is a large storage shed used by the village, managed by the Parish Council.
Management and booking of the Pavilion is through Sherington Parish Council.
