Sherington History

It is hoped that sometime during the year 2000 a new society will be formed in Sherington with a name something like Sherington Historical Society (S.H.S). It would appear to be entirely appropriate to found this society or club in this year 2000.

This will obviously need the support of village residents or those with an interest in Sherington, its past and future. There is a wealth of historical documentation loose in this village and it is felt that this knowledge and information should be preserved for posterity in a safe and secure manner. Hanslope and Newport Pagnell’s Historical Societies have promised guidance and support in the raising of this project. It is anticipated that this society would cost very little to run and would only entail collecting and collating information to start with but, in time, it could become one of the most interesting projects that this village has ever had.

So, if any of you feel that you would like to be involved, or are interested in any way, as founder members, not just for this year but as part of an ongoing club/society, please contact me, Norman Arnold at 21a High Street, or ring me on 612794.
