Church

The original St Leonard’s chapel to Potterspury was where the Old Packhouse stands now.

There is very little mention of the early chapel of St Leonard’s in YardleyGobion but here are two wills from the 16th century that do.

Red print refers to the chapel of St Leonards Yardley

In this very early Yardley will farming goods were bequeathed to the priest to sing in the week in the chapel of Saint Leonards (now the old Packhorse) also profits from the sale of a cow to be shared between the priests of Potterspury and Yardley. This is the only mention that I have found of the chapel of St Leonards when it was in use.

The word missing in the will means that a word was missing or not readable.
