The Pocket Park was constructed on part of the land left to the church by George Claridge Druce in memory of his mother, the other part was consecrated for burial ground, enlarging the nearby graveyard.

Official Opening

Sunday 7th November 1999 at 2.00pm

Our Pocket Park was officially opened on 7th November 1999 by Sylvia Chandler a relative of Mr. G. C. Druce the botanist who gave the site to the St. Leonard’s Church in 1924.  Mrs. Chandler cut a tape at the entrance and then about 200 villagers, friends and children entered the park and congregated at the arena where children from Yardley Gobion C. of E. School entertained us with songs and readings.  The Chairman of the Parish Council said his bit and certificates were presented to those who had helped the most with the design and construction including Sue Paice, without whose help it would not have come to fruition. A very appropriate term as the park is an old orchard.
