The Three Beeches
Many people will remember the three majestic beech trees that stood at the side of the road between Yardley Gobion and the Cosgrove turn on the A508. They were felled some time before the bypass was built, I believe they were diseased as were the beech trees at the top of the Slype in Moorend. (pictured on Flora & fauna intro page)

These three photographs were taken by Bob Westlake on 20th April 1985, it’s likely that the trees were felled on Friday 19th April. It is possible to see evidence of the disease that had attacked the tree on the right where the large branch had been cut also in the trunk.
