Susan contacted me by email for help, she wanted to know if her father was related to George Claridge Druce.

I am pleased to say I was able to prove the relationship she asked, see genealogial report.

I am researching the Druce family history, through my paternal grandfather Edward Druce of Holly House Potterspury, (born 1864). I am in possession of my father’s adoption certificate. He was fostered at birth in 1921 and placed with a family in the Midlands, where his birth mother and her father both originated before taking up employment at Holly House. My father died in 1989. He recalled many years of happy summer holidays spent at Potterspury and Yardley Gobion, up until the age of 12 years. My father’s mother Edith Adams, and her father, were both in service for the Druce’ family they appear to originate in the Midlands, Worcester area, where she left Potterspury to return to give birth to my father in 1921. He was fostered by a family, (presumably through the church) the family originated in the Smethwick area, and they later moved to Stretford and Sale, Manchester.
My father spent summer holidays from 1927 to 1933 at Holly House, although he believed Edith was his aunt. He was not aware of his background until he was formally adopted at the age of 12 years. I wonder if Edward died at this time, as I calculate he was 57 at the time of my father’s birth?
